Monday 5th February 2007

FUTURE  PILOT AKA..:

Secrets From The Clockhouse

The Creeping Bent Organisation release the 4th album by Glasgow sonic provocateurs, Future Pilot AKA, on Feb 5th.

"Secrets From The Clockhouse" was conceived, produced, and largely written by Sushil K Dade. It follows his regular modus operandi by collaborating with a number of disparate and eclectic artists operating over many genres and disciplines.  Those familiar with collaborators on previous albums (Cornershop, Alan Vega, Mikey Dread, James Kirk, Vic Godard, Philip Glass, Pastels, Bill Wells, etc) will be excited to learn the range of collaborations on "Secrets From The Clockhouse".

Secrets From The Clockhouse features collaborations and appearences from members of The Go-Betweens, Sonic Youth, Belle & Sebastian, Can, Stooges, Fire Engines, Concerto Caledonia, Karine Polwart, Alasdair Gray and others. The album has the feel of a song-cycle, with folk / pop / free jazz being the key touchstones.

Liner notes are written by classical composer Gavin Bryars.

SIDE 1: TRACK DESCRIPTOR

TERY BINA (NOTHING WITHOUT YOU)

Kicking off with a cyclic rendition of the classic

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan track featuring vocals contributions from Pilot family members Vinita Dade and 4 year old Anurudh

(pilot in training) singing over a shimmering dulcimer led track.

This 1 minute pop vocal is sung by crowned folk queen Karine Polwart (Triple winner at this years BBC Folk Awards) the track swiftly

drifts off into the world of psychedelia preparing the listener for

the impending sonic surprises approaching.

EYES OF LOVE

Recording very much with the spirit of Two-Tone in mind and the energy of early Kinks, this uplifting summer groover is sung by Belle & Sebastian's Stuart Murdoch & Sarah Martin.

ESKIMO WHITE

Legendary Scot's novelist and illustrator Alasdair Gray in a rare

spoken word/pop recording!

EQUATIONS OF LOVE

This emotional, meditative instrumental is guaranteed to soothe

your soul and ease your mind.

IT'S IN THE HEART OF EVERYONE

Simple mathematics with former Lydia Lunch /Swans/Current 93 collaborator Joe Budenholzer with harmonies from Karine Polwart

  -minus 4 equals 7 indeed.

BOOMERANG

Slight return-the second coming of our man Joseph Budenholzer.

TU MEERE MAATA

Vinita Dade sings an Indian spiritual while the band strike up a primal bossa nova beat.

MAATA RETURNS

From the Glasgow underground, The Pendulum's Lavinia Blackwall sings a short interlude to prepare the listener for Side 2.

SIDE 2: TRACK DESCRIPTOR

THE CITY OF LIGHT

The Go-Betweens Robert Forster

& Grant McLennan do a 'reading' of this miniscule pop gem,

58 seconds of undiluted Pop to spring clean your mind!

WORD ASSOCIATION TEST

Alasdair Gray agrees to undergo a revealing psychometric test.

NUCLEAR WAR

Members of Sonic Youth (Thurston Moore/Kim Gordon), The Fire Engines (Davy Henderson) and Stooges/Minutemen bass legend (Mike Watt)

pay homage to the spirit of jazz giant Sun Ra ,on this one of

his minimalist compositions from the 70's.This track also features a rare recording of the 'fu-horn' performed by iconic radio producer Stewart Cruickshank.

SHENANDOAH

This haunting folk song features chilling vocals and waterfall piano by Karine Polwart alongside young Glasgow improv percussionist Alex Neilson on loan from Scatter/Glasgow Improviser's Orchestra.

CHANGES

Emotional vocals by another emerging Glasgow talent Unkle Bob's

Rick Webster paints an emotional landscape with his gifted vocalisations.

FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

This historic track documents a genuine piece of 'instant composing' featuring a live jam across the telephone exchange, Sushil K Dade performs on acoustic guitar in Glasgow whilst Damo Suzuki (Can) listens to the chords 'down the line' from his Cologne HQ and responds with his hauntingly poignant, crackly telephone vocals.

A-N-U-R-U-D-H

Vinita Dade ends the proceedings with a devotional chant dedicated to 'the one who cannot be stopped'.This indeed ends our broadcast from the Secret Clockhouse, but can this really be the end?

Or is there more…
