Monica Queen returns to the fray with her debut album, "Ten Sorrowful Mysteries" released on esteemed Glasgow label Creeping Bent on 25th Feb. This debut album is Monica's first airing since sharing lead vocals on Belle and Sebastian's Lazy Line Painter Jane single. Apart from appearing on stage with Belle and Sebastian, Monica has performed live singing Streets of Baltimore with The Jayhawks, Cortez the Killer with Grant Lee Buffalo, and Fairytale of New York with Shane McGowan.
Ten Sorrowful Mysteries is produced and co-written by John Smillie, guitarist in Monica's previous group Thrum.
This stunningly beautiful album evokes the fragility of Emmylou/Neil Young circa 1975, albeit with a modernist slant.
